Safeguarding and Keeping Children Safe
Safeguarding children is everyone's responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and
families have a role to play.
At St Paul's Catholic Primary School our pupils’ welfare is our paramount concern. The governing body will ensure that our school will safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and work together with other agencies to ensure that our school has adequate arrangements to identify, assess and support those children who are suffering or likely to suffer harm.
Our school is a community and all those directly connected: staff members, governors, parents, families and pupils, have an essential role to play in making it safe and secure.
The Prevent Duty
St Paul's Catholic Primary School is committed to providing a secure environment for pupils, where children feel safe and are kept safe. All adults in our school recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility irrespective of the role they undertake or whether their role has direct contact or responsibility for children or not.
What is the Prevent Strategy?
Prevent is a government strategy designed to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorist or extremist causes.

How does the Prevent strategy apply to schools?
All schools have a duty to safeguard children from radicalisation and extremism.
This means we have a responsibility to protect children from extremist and violent views the same way we protect them from drugs or gang violence.
